The Vulcan Command Fleet (AKA: Vulcan High Command Fleet, Command Fleet, Vulcan Fleet, Vulcan Command Fleet) previously known as Vulcan Defense Fleet, was the deep-space exploratory, scientific and military service maintained by the Confederacy of Vulcan. In the year 2154 the Vulcan High Command Fleet underwent a restructure when T'Pau became leader of the High Command and the majority of the fleet was placed into inactive service. The core facilities continued to operate after the restructuring which allowed the fleet to be repaired and to construct new vessels as needed. Though the remaining ships and facilities continued to operate, their functions included the advancement of Vulcan knowledge about the galaxy and its inhabitants, the advancement of Vulcan and Allied science and technology, the military defense of Vulcan space, personnel and cargo transportation and the practice of Vulcan/Federation diplomacy.
Over the course of the last 200 years the fleet was called back into service several times to aid Starfleet and its allies in conflicts with the Klingons, Cardassian's and Romulan's. After much debate by the Vulcan High Command Council Ministries reformation of the Vulcan High Command and The Vulcan Command Fleet is call back into permanent active service in the year 2350. At this time a full construction and overhaul status echoed through all Vulcan Systems, all Starbase's, Outposts, Shipyards and construction facilities began construction of new vessels and overhauls of all active ships.
As per its mandate of exploration, Vulcan ships were occasionally brought into contact with cultures and sentient species whose existences were unknown to the Federation. Officers therefore acted as official representatives of Vulcan and the Federation in these cases. Vulcan ships were used to transport ambassadors on diplomatic missions.
Many Vulcan ships were involved with the exploration and scientific duties in the Gamma Quadrant after the discovery of the Bajoran Wormhole.
In 2383 when the Vulcan government withdrew from the Federation, due to this all Vulcan ships began massive overhauls and newer more advance and experimental technology began being equipped on all vessels. With the change governmental status all vessels registries were changed from showing vessel class such as VCC referring to Vulcan Combat Cruisers to a more general designation VCS which now is the sign of Vulcan Confederacy Ship. The VCF in the registry number remains the same as all ships are maintained and operated by the Vulcan Command Fleet.
